Guest room deconstruction. Furring strips on concrete and thus no insulation

    • From everything I have found, furring strips are put there solely as a way to hang drywall since it can’t be attached to the concrete blocks (obviously). Just strips of wood to screw drywall into, nothing else. Evidently no insulation inside concrete blocks was not that uncommon in the 1970’s when my house was built. Not sure if because energy conservation not as big a deal, or not realizing concrete blocks are not good insulation.
